Herbal, Shamanic and Wise Woman Apprenticeships

A Variety of Apprenticeship Opportunities with Herbalist Susun Weed Allow Most to Be Able to Access this Once in a Lifetime Chance

 

The Wise Woman Center in Woodstock, NY, is home to a great variety of plant life. It is also home to Susun Weed, world renowned herbalist and author and a spokesperson for the Wise Woman Tradition. Here she teaches people who come from faraway places to apprentice or just to take a one-day class on plants, health and women’s empowerment!

Long-time teacher of empowering our health choices by harvesting plants local to us, Susun also prefers to teach us to take charge of our health by preparing our own remedies and wild foods.  Each year she offers a variety of ways to apprentice with her.

Wise Woman Apprentices can take advantage of Susun’s live-out program, coming approximately once a month from spring through fall. Wise Woman Apprentices enjoy an initiation ritual, moonlodge ceremony, classes with Susun, personal time with Susun, and a graduation ceremony. Wise Woman apprentices pay only $1300 total, but also have work exchange options available to those who need it.

Simple Herbal Apprentices live at the Wise Woman Center for at least two weeks. They can start any Tuesday from April through October. The cost of $550 per week includes food and housing, all happenings at the center during their stay, and much more. Some work exchange is available.

Shamanic Herbal Apprentices stay at least six weeks and have the opportunity to go much deeper, both in their herbal training as well as in their personal exploration. The cost again is $550 per week. Even more work trade is offered for this program, some even expected as it offers a chance to deepen the studies. The start dates for 2010 are April 13, May 18, June 22, and August 10.

Send your name, age, address, phone number, color photo, letter about yourself and application fee of $100. You must do this even if you are applying for scholarship or work-exchange positions. When Susun approves your application, she will send you a letter of acceptance, including travel directions and list of things to bring.
